(crash the party!!!!)
RECORD RELEASE PARTY!
We've decided kind of last minute (as usual) that we couldn't let the release of our new record "In The Absence Of Truth" pass without some sort of celebration. For those of you in the Los Angeles area we'd like to invite you to join us Monday October 30th at the Cha Cha Lounge located at 2375 Glendale Blvd in Silver Lake (near the corner of Glendale and Silver Lake Blvd, across from the Red Lion).
We'll be playing our new record as well as providing some special "treats" that we're constructing special for the event. There will also be some free t-shirts, posters, lighters and other various goodies.
So come down and help us celebrate the release of our new record and the beginning of "another round" with family and friends.
Hope to see you there!
THIS PARTY IS FREE.... be there....
It really sucks when one of the good ones in the music industry passes away. There aren't that many.
OBITUARY - THOMAS STÖWSAND
Thomas Stöwsand, the eminent booking agent and champion of jazz and Brazilian music in Europe, died on October 5, 2006 in Schwaz, Austria, after a long struggle with cancer. He was 59.
Stöwsand was the founder and president of Saudades Tourneen, an agency representing many prominent American and Brazilian musicians throughout Europe, Asia, and South America. Revered for his passion and love for music and the artists who create it, he was a tireless promoter of progressive jazz and genre-crossing music, building a supreme artist roster.
Within the jazz world, Stöwsand and his company produced countless concert tours by such renowned artists as Carla Bley, Jack DeJohnette, Dave Holland, Ornette Coleman, Paul Bley, McCoy Tyner, Charlie Haden, Paul Motian, Oregon, Ralph Towner, John Abercrombie, John McLaughlin, Bill Frisell, John Scofield, Jim Hall, the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Henry Threadgill, John Surman, Mike Brecker, Steve Coleman, Don Byron, Dave Liebman, Tim Berne, Greg Osby, Michael Moore, Ravi Coltrane, Chris Potter, Marty Ehrlich, Andy Sheppard, Dave Douglas, Steven Bernstein, Uri Caine, Geri Allen, Wayne Horvitz, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Myra Melford, Mark Feldman, Steve Swallow, Scott Colley, Joey Baron, Bobby Previte, Dafnis Prieto, as well as the late Betty Carter, Don Cherry, Lester Bowie, Elvin Jones, and Dewey Redman. His enthusiasm for the culture of Brazil led to a specialization in its music. Egberto Gismonti, Hermeto Pascoal, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Marisa Monte, Marlui Miranda, Cyro Baptista, and Joao Bosco all toured for Saudades over the years. His interest in category-defying music was reflected by long-term relationships with artists such as John Zorn, Fred Frith, Marc Ribot, Mike Patton, Tin Hat Trio, and the Kronos Quartet.
Born in 1947 in Cuxhaven, Germany, Stöwsand began his professional career as a journalist and musician. He was playing cello and bassoon in an avant-garde jazz group when he joined the up-start ECM label in 1970 and helped build it over the next decade into one of the most heralded independent record companies. At ECM, besides over-seeing distribution and sales, he championed the idea that a record company’s most effective marketing strategy could be organizing concert tours of its artists. During the 1970s, he played an instrumental role in introducing pianists Chick Corea and Keith Jarrett and guitarist Pat Metheny to European audiences.
Booking tours became his calling, at once work and hobby, and he started Saudades Tourneen in 1983 in the Tyrolean town of Schwaz. Its tiny local club, the Eremitage (Hermitage) became famous as a hub for countless musicians touring across Europe. Building upon Stöwsand’s previous success and reputation as an extremely dedicated and reliable agent, his new company expanded and in 1993 opened an office in Rio De Janeiro.
Stöwsand’s expansive personality, loyalty, and business integrity endeared him to his artists and to concert and festival promoters around the world. His keen ear for new talent and his support of debuting bandleaders and less-commercial names became trademarks of his company, which continued to promote cutting-edge artists even in times of an unfavorable business climate. His contributions to the careers of an extraordinary number of world-class musicians and to the international awareness of their work have been immeasurable.
Thomas was a man of immense energy. As well as losing a committed and meticulous professional, friends and colleagues throughout the world will miss a generous and hospitable spirit with a love of good food and wine, an infectious sense of humor and a laugh that resounded across continents. His house and office in Rotholz was like a second home to artists, producers, and the friends and family of the music he loved.
Thomas Stöwsand is survived by his wife and business partner, Anna Takats, and his sister, Wiebke Hilmes, and her family.

There has been some confusion in Europe regarding Peeping Tom shows supporting Gnarls Barkley. It seems that a show is being advertised in Glasgow. Unfortunately, due tio scheduling conflicts, Peeping Tom will NOT be supporting Gnarls at that show. All confirmed shows are posted here on our website.
Iceland electronic scrongsters Ghostigital, featuring Einar Orn of the Sugarcubes, are touring these days with the legendary rock group Melvins.
Being from Iceland Ghostigital, found it fitting to call their last record In Cod We Trust and now they take their show on the road.
But why did they call their record In Cod We Trust? Is it because they are about to tour with the Melvins? Or is it because they are from Iceland? Now is the time to find out for yourselves, as Ghostigital are running a small competition with Iceland Naturally, and they are giving a pair of tickets to Iceland with Icelandair. Now indeed is the time for yourselves to find out why on earth they trust in cod. To enter Win a Trip to Iceland please click on this link: Ghostigital take you to Iceland
Peeping Tom fans, check it out, MTV has added "Mojo" to their video on demand site. Go to: http://www.mtv.com/overdrive and in the upper right hand corner click on search and type in Peeping Tom and the video will pop up. Pretty sweet!
Like a nice bottle of Thunderbird, the Melvins just keep getting better with age. Even more impressively, they don't make the same record over and over. No, these guys are innovators and they OWN!!!! We are proud to present to you, a brand spanking new all original record from the self proclaimed, "greatest band in the history of music", the Melvins. "A Senile Animal" shows off the brand new lineup. In addition to everyone's favorites Dale Crover and King Buzzo they add Coady and Jared from the band Big Business to the mix. That is correct, 2 drummers and 2 vocalists and when you check out the pounding beats and soaring harmonies you will see/hear that these additions really work! Best of all these guys never slow down, they are in the middle of a world tour as we speak. Get there early for an added suprise. Rumor has it they have started playing as the doors are opening.
RUN to your local record store and ask for "A Senile Animal" today! Featuring more fab artwork from Mackie Osborne (she designed the latest TOOL package amongst other things). Check the calendar for a show near you.
Can't decide. Some of you peeps are either very talented or have to much free time. You decide!
