John Kaada and Mike Patton Release First Kaada/Patton Album in 12 Years, "Bacteria Cult"

Norwegian composer John Kaada and Mike Patton have partnered for Bacteria Cult, the pair’s first Kaada/Patton release since 2007’s Kaada/Patton Live DVD and the first album from the musicians since 2004’s Romances.

“Working with John Kaada on this latest release was an honor and pure pleasure,” said Patton of resuming work Kaada. “His compositions have always resonated deeply with me and his orchestral arrangements for this project are harmonically dense and delicious! Each individual piece is so well constructed and inventively assembled that my vocal passages practically sang themselves. I’m hoping very much that we can seduce some eardrums and welcome listeners into this lush sonic ‘otherworld.’”

“We wanted to try new things,” explains Kaada. “Fully utilizing new technologies, combined with a large orchestra, while putting more attention towards melody and structure.”

The eight-song, orchestral collection exudes the music Ipecac has become well known for: eclectic, experimental and cinematic. Similar in feel to Fantômas’ Director’s Cut, as Kaada describes it, Bacteria Cult “dwells in the twilight zone where spooky and seductive meet.”

2. Black Albino

Nevermen is neither side-project nor super group; it's merely meant to be — a years-in-the-making partnership in which these men shared all duties, discovering their collective sound with the sort of glee and freedom usually reserved for first-timers. Amid this wild, weird churn of rock, pop, rap, soul, and other, it's shockingly easy to lose track of who's singing at what moment, and that's the point: to quote Tunde/Adam/Mike in song, "The frontman digests its self." Nevermen, the album, finds these three giants shredding their egos to get at the heart of why they do what they do, to explore the hopes and fears and wins and losses of anyone who carves career out of what started as dream.

Le Butcherettes Premiere Video for “La Uva” Featuring Iggy Pop + Expand Euro Tour

Le Butcherettes release the video for “La Uva” (, featuring Teri Gender Bender and Iggy Pop performing the song from the outfit’s recently released album, A Raw Youth.

“La Uva” marks the first time Iggy Pop has recorded a song in Spanish with a band. The video was recorded at Iggy Pop's house in Miami, Fla. under the direction of producer and director, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez.

Le Butcherettes and Iggy Pop met during a tour where the Mexican outfit was invited to open for the legendary frontman, leading to an ongoing friendship and a promise to one day record together. The decision to record the duet in Spanish was a natural one with Iggy Pop having lived in Mexico for several years and fluent in the language.
