Avant Treat

Avant theatre fans have a special treat being unveiled for them in New York City soon!

Richard Foreman is one of the most important theatre directors in the world, and has been a personal hero of John Zorn's for over 30 years. These two masters of the bizarre have now collaborated on a theatre/music piece and it is opening on February 5th at the Ontological-Hysteric Theatre at St Marks in the Bowery, New York City. This is one of those things that can only happen downtown—independent of any special grants, funding, institution or administration. ASTRONOME is the intense second CD featuring Mike Patton, Trevor Dunn and Joey Baron, and Richard Foreman's staging of it is absolutely stunning. Please make a special effort to see this once in a lifetime event, opening FEBRUARY 5 AND RUNNING FOR ONLY TWO MONTHS!

Hey Patton Fans!

Check out the new John Zorn release on Tzadik.

John Zorn: The Crucible
The legendary Moonchild trio returns for another intense journey into the worlds of magic, alchemy and witchcraft. Following one of Zorn’s true masterpieces Six Litanies for Heliogabalus, this fourth volume streamlines and simplifies the music with new melodic elements bringing Zorn’s sax and the lyricism of Masada into the power and structural complexity of the patented Moonchild sound. With Patton using his prodigious voice to sing melodies in addition to his preverbal screams and howls, The Crucible is another bold step from mad alchemist John Zorn. Including special guest guitarist Marc Ribot on one Led Zeppelin influenced track, this is a rocking new installment to the Moonchild-Astronome-Heliogabalus legacy.

Joey Baron: Drums
Trevor Dunn: Bass
Mike Patton: Voice
Marc Ribot: Guitar
John Zorn: Alto Sax

New Bohren & der Club of Gore Album

I know, I know, we are not supposed to play favorites. When you work at a record label, you are supposed to treat each record the same. But come on, even a droid like myself is only human. Bohren & der Club of Gore Are my favorite band on the label!!!! We could not be happier to release their most recent full length release "Dolores". This band is pure beauty. These Germans have been making "doom ridden jazz music" since 1988. While some of their releases have been very dark in atmosphere, "Dolores" starts to show some light, albeit very subtley. If you get a chance, check them out live for sure, including their upcoming appearance at the ATP festival in England in December. Or close yourself in a dark room with good headphones and get lost in the beauty of Bohren & der Club of Gore.
